Weather permitting, this should be a daylong event with Air Force flyovers,
static displays of military vehicles,
activities for children and plenty of great music from several quality bands.

Java Joe's 4th Street Gallery is probably one of downtown Des Moines'
best small concert venues around.
Fabulous sound system, friendly & professional staff, great food and a wonderful place for an old geezer to perform.

Lunch hour program delighted both staff,vets & local 5th grade class.
Return event desired in the autumn by director of Music Therapy Department with a larger performance venue planned at the facility.

After nine months of negotiations with another vet organization, a last minute change of direction by Operation Homefront saved this concert. Kudos to Al Boothby & Patti Lokken !

Once again, hometown hero and 2 time native American Grammy winner
plays a local cafe to a packed & enthusiastic audience. Always an honor to be in his cast of excellent local musicians.

This is definitely a BAND venue.
Soloists are stuck next to the "L" shaped pizza oven where the heat throws your acoustic guitars out of tune. This is place for rowdier beer
guzzling and wine sipping and needs the kind of tunes to support that
clientele. Not a good fit for yours truly.

This is the longest surviving live music venue in my old home town of Des Moines, Iowa and the proprietors are simply amazing. They bought an adjacent part of the same building and turned into a true performing concert hall that doubles as a "Farmer's Market" area in season.
Look for an afternoon and evening gig there when the growing season for garden fresh produce is flowing on a Friday this year. They
actually charge cover in the evening. At last, some respect in the old home town !

Nice off campus venue. Good sound characteristics. The bad news is that they don't actively promote their live music much,hence a tiny turn out and because of the long commute to Ames from LaCrosse, Wisconsin, this is a cafe that's seen the last of yours truly.
